Tree Pruning

Pruning trees of any size or age can be a challenge for arborists and the tree!  Trees are amazing and valuable assets to our lives.  Each leaf on a tree serves a purpose to the tree as a whole.  Pruning can be a source of stress for mature trees when performed improperly.  Most often, pruning is necessary to maintain space between structures, utility lines, and other trees.  While pruning, Gerrein Green arborists remove decayed, diseased, and dead limbs as well as codominant or crossing branches that may promote disease or become dangerous.  In general, tree pruning has a specific end goal which can be categorized as maintenance pruning, canopy raising or pruning to provide clearance.  In some instances, our certified arborists are hired to perform pruning to restore the vitality of a tree that has been damaged due to storms or poor pruning.  Improper pruning practices like thinning, topping and shaping will result in tree decline and unstable reactive growth leading to higher maintenance costs.  Most problems can be avoided by considering the location and availability of space for a given tree species prior to installation.  Our arborists can also provide tree recommendations, just call for more details!
